14 November 2011 Trailblazers Regional Ambassadors meet to discuss plans for the coming year
Trailblazers from across the country met at the weekend and took part in a steering group meeting held in Birmingham. Individuals had the opportunity to share ideas which will play a key part in shaping the future of our network.
Ambassadors, some of whom were meeting for the first time, participated in detailed discussions with many exciting suggestions for future projects. Ideas for national campaigns, regional investigations and additional link-up projects were discussed, some of which will be put into action in the coming months.
Trailblazers also took the time to consider ways that regional events could progress, and spoke of ways of reaching out to more potential Trailblazers.
Ambassador Vivek Gohil who attended the event to represent the East Midlands said:
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to speak up about future campaigns, meetings, and ideas for projects. I got to meet even more Trailblazers at the event on Saturday .
I left university last year, and the network has been a good way to increase my confidence. I like the way we ourselves want to contribute to decisions which will affect us-they're not made by anyone else.
I would encourage any young disabled person to get involved. It's just a great network. We can actually make a visible difference to improve our own lives.
Trailblazers Campaigns Officer Tanvi Vyas said:
The steering group was immensely useful, and providing a lot of valuable feedback and great ideas for the future. Trailblazers has always been, and will continue to be led by young disabled people.
