Trailblazers aims to be a powerful movement to encourage change in UK society

Disability discrimination legislation has been in force since 1995, yet disabled people still have to struggle for equal access in most aspects of society. The changes we hope to bring about are necessary in order for certain aspects of society to comply with the law.

As Trailblazers we:

  • identify issues
  • explain why the situation needs to change, and
  • offer solutions to decision-makers and those with vested interests standing against us.

Despite what the law says, not all businesses and educational institutions are prepared to address the needs of disabled people. Furthermore, they can be hesitant to change their premises or buy necessary adaptive equipment because of the costs involved.

We are currently campaigning on:

  1. access to public transport
  2. leisure facilities
  3. access to and through education
  4. access to employment
  5. access to tourism
  6. access to cinemas
