Gain work experience

Trailblazers supports work experience at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign HQ.

Trailblazers are delighted to announce that we have received funding from the City Bridge Trust to run an extended work experience scheme in London.City Bridge Trust Logo

The City Bridge Trust, The City of London Corporation's Charity, has generously agreed to help us support 30 Trailblazers and other young disabled people in London to work experience placements within the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Since 2008  Trailblazers campaigners have carried out informal volunteering placements and played an enormous part in the success of our campaigns and network development. Many Trailblazers who have volunteered with us have then gone on to find full and part time employment, partly as a result of the work they have done with us.

With the support of City Bridge Trust we are now able to offer more work experience opportunities on our Trailblazers campaigns as well as with other departments within the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, including:

Young disabled people like me sometimes struggle to not only get a job but also get work experience. Since I joined Trailblazers and came in to the MDC office I've worked with the events fundraising team on my own ideas, developed my IT skills on databases and  word processing,  recruited and advised other Trailblazers, as well as helping to develop the Trailblazers website and other publications.

Stephen Liney, Trailblazers South East Ambassador

I've been coming in twice a week for the last month on days when I don't have lectures at university. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming.  Even though we're serious about what we do, that doesn't mean we can't have good fun doing it.

James Lee, Trailblazers London Ambassador
